AlzOnline is committed to protecting the privacy of all visitors. This Privacy Statement will describe the information that we collect from our users and how we keep that information private and secure.

Questions posed during sessions, as well as postings on the message board may be viewed by anyone in those sessions or visitors to the boards. In these settings, participants should exercise caution not to use information that is personally identifying, such as e-mail addresses or other information that you would not want others to see.

AlzOnline collects no personally identifying information about you except when you specifically and knowingly provide such information. We may also ask for optional demographic information that will help us better understand those persons whom we are serving so that we may improve our service to you.

AlzOnline collects general statistics which allows us to track the frequency of visits. This information is collected for statistical reasons only, and will be reported only in general terms with our professional staff and will not include personal identifiers.

AlzOnline believes in your right to informed consent in the handling of your information. This information is in the form of group statistics on web activity and content analysis, and is never connected to personal identifying information. We will not rent or sell your personal information to any other company. We may use information in general terms for educational purposes or share it with the State Department of Elder Affairs to improve our service.

We may use questions and comments submitted on our website in articles, commentaries, research or other similar ways, without disclosing any personal identifying information.

Linked websites may have site policies that differ from ours. If you link to another website through AlzOnline, you should consult that websites privacy policy before providing any personal identifying information.

Most United States courts have the power to subpoena our records and a professional's records if you are involved in a court case in which your relationship with AlzOnline, or the professional is somehow relevant. Although this is unlikely, if you have any questions, it is better to contact your lawyer prior to disclosing any private personal information.

If someone's life is in danger, we will report it. This applies to potential cases of suicide or homicide.

AlzOnline also complies with the standards set by Health on the Net (HON).

1. Conditions of Use

AlzOnline is pleased to welcome you to our website, AlzOnline (the "Site"). AlzOnline ("Provider") agrees to provide you an elder-friendly Site with general caregiver educational information, message boards, chat rooms, and the ability to access our positive caregiving classes support group. All of the services provided are subject to the terms of this Agreement. The Site reserves the right to modify this Agreement at any time by providing notice through the Site. You hereby agree that, at all times that you use the Site, you will abide by the Terms and Conditions set forth herein. To use the Site, you as User must agree to all of the Terms and Conditions set forth in this Agreement. You should read this Agreement carefully. Do not use the Site unless you have read and agree to abide by these Terms and Conditions set forth herein.

The AlzOnline website is an educational service intended for adult caregivers of persons with dementia and does not constitute an attempt to practice healthcare. Use of this site does not establish a professional relationship between the user and the healthcare providers. The information included on this website is provided for educational use and should not take the place of professional medical or psychological advice. Contact your physician, pharmacist, or other appropriate healthcare provider with any questions specific to your situation and NEVER change any part of your treatment regimen without first contacting your physician.

AlzOnline reserves the right to change this disclaimer or other terms and policies, so users should review the disclaimer periodically.

4. User Rules for the Site

By using the Site, you agree that you will not undertake any of the following actions:

Users who violate the above Rules or Terms and Conditions of the Site may receive a warning from the Provider stating that User has committed a violation and that further violations may result in the termination of the User's account. With or without warning, Provider, in its sole discretion, may terminate the User's account when these Rules and/or Terms and Conditions are violated. Provider will also make every effort to remove material or postings on the Site that are in violation of the Rules or the Terms and Conditions.

If you use the chat rooms, message boards or other interactive areas found on the Site, you are solely responsible for your communications and the consequences of posting those communications. AlzOnline does not assume any liability or responsibility for the consequences of such communications. If you feel threatened or believe that you or someone else may be in danger, contact your local law enforcement agency immediately.

AlzOnline reserves the right to monitor, edit, and disclose material of any nature posted on the message boards or chat rooms to determine compliance with the Terms and Conditions set forth herein, to comply with law, to protect our rights as Provider, or to protect the safety of Users of the Site. While providing ourselves the right to screen activities, materials and communication on the Site, we assume no responsibility to our Users or to others as a result of screening or for failure to do so.

5. Copyrighted Materials

Copyrighted material of any nature including, but not limited to, text, photography, writings, drawings, music, sound, videos, computer programs, or other software may not be posted on the Site without the express written consent of the owners of the copyright of said material.

User should assume that any material, information, software, or any other content on the Site is protected by copyright. User may not copy, reproduce, retransmit, distribute, publish, use for any commercial purpose, or otherwise transfer any copyrighted material. User may download a single copy of the material from the Site, and that single copy is solely for User's personal use. User does not acquire any ownership rights by downloading copyrighted material.

User is solely responsible for compliance with any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary right that may apply to any material of any nature found on the Site.

This site and all content and materials on the site are provided on an "as is" basis. User agrees to use the site solely at User's own risk. To the fullest extent provided by law, Provider disclaims any and all guarantees, either express or implied, including guarantees relating to the quality, accuracy, or content of any and all material, information, or services posted on or accessed through the site.

Provider is not liable for the conduct of other Users or third parties and the risk of injury from the foregoing rests entirely with User.

Provider is not liable for damages of any nature including, without limitation, direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising out of User's use of the Site or inability to access or use the Site or out of any breach of any warranty.

This Site contains links to other websites, sometimes called "third party" websites. Provider is not responsible for the content of linked third party sites and does not make any representation, warranty, or endorsement with respect to any content or material or the accuracy of any content or material on such third party websites.

8. Servicemarks and Trademarks

AlzOnline logos are service marks of the University of Florida's Center for Research on Telehealth and Healthcare Communications, and AlzOnline All other servicemarks and trademarks appearing on the Site belong to their respective owners.

9. Indemnification

User agrees to indemnify and hold Provider harmless from any dispute that may arise from a breach of the terms of this Agreement. User agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Provider from any cause of action, claims and expenses, including reasonable attorney's fees and court costs, related to a violation of this Agreement, and its Terms and Conditions and as a result of any information, material, or content placed on the Site by User.

10. Choice of Law

This Agreement and the Terms and Conditions set forth herein shall be construed under and governed by the laws of the State of Florida, and any dispute arising from this Agreement or a breach of this Agreement will be governed by the laws of the State of Florida. User agrees to personal jurisdiction by the state and federal courts of the State of Florida. If you have any questions about this provision, you should consult with your own attorney.

Expert Forum Terms of Use

All participants in AlzOnline Expert Forums agree to hold harmless the Guest Presenters and the staff of AlzOnline, against any and all actions, claims, losses, demands, costs (including attorney fees) and all other expenses arising directly or indirectly from use of the above presentation.
